They pull to get to something. They pull because they are excited about the world or even because the world is overwhelming to them. Sometimes they pull because they are in pain and it feels better to pull. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, always try to figure out the why of the behavior. Why is YOUR dog pulling? Have a think about that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are loads of other things you can do to help teach your dog to walk nicely near you. Yes near you and not to heel. I believe dogs should be allowed to explore and would not expect my dog to walk to heel constantly. I want her to sniff and investigate things. Which is why I use a longer lead most of the time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can work on impulse control, engagement and focus (I can help you with that).
